Description

PPR Pipes (Polypropylene Random Copolymer Pipes) – Hot & Cold Water Systems

PPR Pipes are advanced thermoplastic piping systems designed for the safe and efficient conveyance of both hot and cold water in residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing installations. Manufactured from polypropylene random copolymer (PPR), these pipes provide excellent thermal stability, chemical resistance, and long-term durability.

PPR piping systems are widely recognized for their ability to withstand high temperatures and pressure conditions, making them ideal for hot water distribution networks and central heating systems. The pipes are joined through heat fusion welding, creating a homogeneous and leak-proof connection that ensures long service life and reliable performance.

Key Features

  • Suitable for Hot and Cold Water Systems
PPR pipes are specifically designed to handle both hot and cold water distribution in plumbing installations.
  • High Temperature Resistance
Capable of operating at temperatures up to approximately 95°C, making them ideal for hot water systems and heating applications.
  • Fusion Welding Jointing System
Pipes and fittings are joined using heat fusion welding, creating a permanent, leak-proof connection stronger than the pipe itself.
  • Excellent Chemical Resistance
Resistant to most acids, alkalis, and chemical substances commonly found in water systems.
  • Smooth Internal Surface
The smooth bore minimizes friction losses and prevents scale buildup, maintaining efficient water flow.
  • Corrosion-Free Performance
Unlike metal pipes, PPR pipes do not rust, corrode, or develop internal scaling.
  • Hygienic and Non-Toxic
Suitable for potable water systems as the material does not affect water quality or taste.

Typical Applications

PPR Pipes are widely used in:

  • Hot and cold water supply systems
  • Residential and commercial plumbing installations
  • Central heating systems
  • Solar water heating systems
  • Industrial fluid transfer systems
  • Hospitals and laboratory water systems
  • Compressed air distribution systems

Available Sizes

PPR Pipes are typically available in the following nominal diameters:

  • 20 mm
  • 25 mm
  • 32 mm
  • 40 mm
  • 50 mm
  • 63 mm
  • 75 mm
  • 90 mm
  • 110 mm

Larger sizes may be available depending on project specifications.

Compliance & Standards

PPR Pipes are typically manufactured in accordance with recognized international standards such as:

  • ISO 15874 – Plastic Piping Systems for Hot and Cold Water Installations
  • DIN 8077 / DIN 8078 – Polypropylene Pipes
  • EN ISO Standards for polypropylene piping systems

Installation Guidelines

  • Pipes and fittings should be joined using approved PPR fusion welding machines.
  • Proper heating and cooling times should be observed during the welding process to ensure strong joints.
  • Pipes should be supported at appropriate intervals to prevent sagging in hot water systems.
  • Avoid excessive mechanical stress during installation.

Advantages

  • Suitable for both hot and cold water systems
  • Leak-proof fusion welded joints
  • High temperature resistance
  • Long service life (often exceeding 50 years)
  • Corrosion and scale resistant
  • Hygienic and safe for drinking water
  • Low maintenance requirements
